MATCH REPORTS

Peninsula Predators 0 Greenleas 5

After a fine win in the 1st round of the Knockout Cup last week the boys were coming up against a very very strong Greenleas team who have been playing together from a very young age, they will be there or there abouts at the top of the league come the end of the season. There were positives from the game, the boys battled right until the final whistle and did not let their heads go down, they matched Greenleas physically and tried to play football against them rather than keep knocking the ball long. What has to be remembered, is that there are new players in this team who have not played much competitive football previously, this will give them great experience to learn from. A special mention must go to Aidan who had a fine game in goal and this was capped with him winning man of the match. There are plenty of positives for the boys and coaches to work on in training before the next game.

Man of the match (chosen by opposition) 1 Aidan

Peninsula Predators 1  New Brighton Saints Rangers 0

This was the 1st round of the Knockout Cup and the boys did extremely well. They defended as a team and looked solid. NBSR never really had a look in or tested Aidan in goal. Our goal came courtesy of a free kick delivered into the box by Matthew who was outstanding in the centre of midfield, with James V getting his head onto it with the faintest of touches. 1st headed goal by any Peninsula player. The score could easily have been more as the predators created numerous chances but in the end they held on for a well deserved win.

Next up in the 2nd round is Greenleas
Man of the match (chosen by opposition)  Matthew 4
Peninsula Predators 2 .vs. Glenavon Hawks 4

There were a number of new players playing their first competitive game of football in this game who should be very proud of themselves. Both the goals were taken very well with Jack W getting the first and a spectacular long range effort by Regan proving too much for the Glenavon keeper. A number of the players were played in new positions and swapped over during the game, they never let their heads go down and continued right to the final whistle. It was a very encouraging performance and on another day we could well have had a couple more goals.

Cup game next week to look forward to.
Man of the match – 5 James V (Chosen by opposition)
